Anonymous asked: what is your opinion on kingdoms of amalur?

Based on the demo, I thought it was fun, but nothing groundbreaking. A few months back I was SUPER SUPER ANTICIPATING IT, but I feel like for me Skyrim actually stole a lot of its shine. What I was most interested in was their dynamic class system and I do think the controls for the action part of the game are pretty nice with how easy it is to switch between different kinds of weapons and attacks on the fly. But, unfortunately, they talked up the idea of not being LOCKED IN and being able to LEVEL AS WHATEVER YOU WANT and not having to CHOOSE AT THE OUTSET or whatever, but didn’t really deliver.

They’re still doing the traditional Rogue/Warrior/Mage triad AND more than that you DO actually have to choose once you unlock destinies. And from that point on they just offer the different combinations of Rogue/Warrior/Mage aka hybrid classes. Which. Eh.

Whereas, Skyrim’s set of individual skills (though still perfunctorily classified as Rogue/Warrior/Mage-related) and the leveling system where you level up FROM increasing your skills, allows you to play through that game legitimately with any skillset you want. Even ones focusing primarily on non-combat skills.

So, while Amalur is quite enjoyable and I’ll probably pick it up sooner or later once it releases, it didn’t at all live up to the hopes I had for it. Ultimately, it’s a pretty stock action game pasted onto an MMO world.

Me playing Skyrim! Again! (Part 3)

This time I die some and also try to figure out what the fuck exactly a “Bleak Falls Barrow” is anyway.

As ever, general warning for blood/violence.

Here’s the second part of my Skyrim Let’s Play! I won’t be updating them this frequently all the time. I just wanted to prove that I do actually know how to make the audio work properly.

In this episode, I get lost in some mountains and run away from some stuff trying to kill me.

Warning for spiders (25:20-27:20) and general warning for blood/violence still in effect.

ANOOOOOOOON, thank you!

Let me tell you, I did not like Oblivion AT ALL. At all! I could just never get into it, so for me Skyrim is worlds better. Skyrim doesn’t have the level of character interaction and suchnot that something like Dragon Age does, but there are a lot of NPCs with personality and while you don’t have a regular party like in many other RPGs, there is a pretty big selection of people who, if they like you enough, will hang out with you and adventure with you (and even carry your stuff for you) if you ask.
You can also buy a house and get married in Skyrim! There’s about zero romance involved, but it’s a step up!
There are NUMEROUS dungeons to crawl, which I don’t mind because I really… love dungeon crawling, but the thing about Skyrim is that it’s so open that you could spend very little time in dungeons if you don’t want to. For instance, you could decide to join the Thieves’ Guild and do that whole (lengthy) questline, with bonus radiant quests that are random and will continue indefinitely, and instead of sending you to crawl through dungeons, they’ll send you to pick a specific person’s pocket, or plant something in someone’s house, or to burglarize someplace and that sort of thing.
Also, the main civil war quest has I think like one mandatory dungeon early on (on the Stormcloak side anyway), but after that you’re attacking forts and junk. And there are a billion other random questlines all over the place of all sorts. Also, there is a whole speech skill tree with all kinds of special stuff (and, though I haven’t been, a bard college you can go to???) and there are persuade/intimidate options everywhere.
Soooo, I say rent it and put in some hours and see how it feels!

As promised here is me playing Skyrim (PART ONE)!

My levels got fucked up somehow in this so my voice is kind of low, but I refused to do this same part for a third time, so we’ll all have to put on some headphones and live with it.

Warning for spiders (26:23-28:10) and blood/violence.

hmmm

Today seems like a good day to start my Skyrim Let’s Play!!!1

the-fox-bandit asked: Take a picture of your Skyrim character!

I have two thusfar!!

Ayondela! Likes killing bandits, heavy armor, shields, blacksmithing, and being a werewolf.

And Melisandra (just call her Mel). She enjoys stealing junk, sneaking around, rescuing orphans, and picking locks. She is terrible at pickpocketing, however.

A three-year-old girl learns a valuable lesson from Skyrim.

this is a post about video games

i just ascended the 7000 steps up a fucking mountain

with bears and trolls and ice wraiths trying to kill my poor horse the whole time

to get to ~the throat of the world~

and then when i tried to take a screencap

i made a mistake and hit the “quick load” button

and so it automatically loaded my last save

which was at

the base of the mountain

the-fox-bandit replied to your post: What is the last video game you played? (/terrible at this)

I… I cannot escape the void. SDFLJKSFDLJK. BTW I am thinking of getting an IM account again just so that I can talk to someone (you) about it because UGH SO AMAZING.

SO. FREAKING. AMAZING.

I cannot with this game.

I CANNOT.
