They’re all going to see what I see: a hero.

You don’t need everybody liking you. Just the ones that matter.

I’m tired of the posts in the “Bomb Girls” tag only mentioning the lesbian portions

Yes, it’s great that a show based in WWII era has lesbians, having it be risqué for that time, but it’s more than just about two girls who may possibly have feelings for each other. There’s history to be followed, there’s storylines and other characters who have personalities. While I quite enjoy what’s going on between the two girls, there’s other things going on. I started watching the show because I’m quite fond of Ali Liebert (aka Betty), unbeknownst at the time that she was playing said lesbian. After viewing the first episode, I’ve come to appreciate all the girls on the show. Not just her, even though she will forever hold a soft spot in my heart.Yes, the two gorgeous characters have chemistry, but it isn’t just about them.

Just please, please, please post something more than just about lesbians. As much as I love them, I’d love to see other parts of the show be talked about, other graphics from the episodes being posted, and it would be swell for anyone to convince people to watch the show without mentioning lesbians. I don’t want it to turn into something over hyped because the L-word keeps getting dropped. It’s a beautifully written Canadian show that should be watched because people are generally interested in this era or because they ended up falling in love with it. Not because they heard about it having lesbians.

Sorry to bust anyone’s bubble, but this had to be said. I am unsure if anyone will read it or, hell, agree with me, but a lesbian relationship between two characters shouldn’t be the reason you watch a television show.

Are you fucking serious with this shit.

Hey! Guess what! Some of us get really excited about lesbians on TV because we never see it anywhere else. It is a big fucking deal when a TV show runs a lesbian storyline because- hey guess what!- when you don’t ever see yourself represented in television, finally being given something IS IMPORTANT

“The l word” ARE YOU SERIOUS. ARE YOU ACTUALLY THAT CLUELESS. Let me spell it out for you: L E S B I A N. Because you know what? Being represented IS a reason I watch this show. It IS a reason I like this show. And it’s a reason a lot of people watch it, because REPRESENTATION IS IMPORTANT. THIS SHOW PROVIDES THAT. I am a queer woman. My friends are queer women. And we watch this show because Betty and Kate are queer women like us, being in love and being treated as normal. So sorry if our enthusiasm for being allowed to EXIST on television is ruining your ability to enjoy the nice straight people. Actually, no I’m not. Because YOU are the one with the problem and YOU are the one who needs to examine her gross fucking privilege.

1) Look sweetheart, if you want to talk about stuff other than lesbians, talk about stuff other than lesbians! Post graphics and meta and whatever the hell you want about Lorna or Gladys or whatever, Verna, I don’t know, sometimes I forget who the hell else is on this show because I am so excited about the lesbians.

2) I really can’t think of anything to add to evewithanapple’s point— YOU DON’T GET TO TELL QUEER WOMEN NOT TO WATCH A SHOW FOR THE LESBIANS. It’s exciting because it’s risque or that it’s hype or whatever other tokenizing language you want to throw at us. It’s exciting because do you know how rarely we get to see ourselves on television? Do you know how many currently airing tv shows have queer female main characters right now? Maybe four. Do you know how many of them are historical? One. Bomb Girls. That’s it. That’s all we have.

So yeah, it’s a big fucking deal.

Reblogging for commentary.

Cry me a fucking river, OP.

1.01 Betty & Kate

#this have better be endgame or i will have been bitterly deceived

Her hard attitude doesn’t apply to Kate. Kate inspires her to be a kinder, better person, to show the patience and understanding she lacks with others. Betty doesn’t have the words to explain it, but we know… it’s love.

-if they’re lying, they’re lying REALLY HARD

if this isn’t endgame, I will be incredibly surprised (AND HIDEOUSLY DISAPPOINTED). Kate & Betty’s scenes together are all thrillingly queer variations of easily recognizable romance tropes— right down to Unnecessary Touching While Teaching A Skill (And Spooning A Bit)

YES EXACTLY. The unecessary touching, the supposedly platonic dancing, the thinly-veiled jealousy (I mean there was other stuff going on in the scene with Gladys, but I think Betty was also a little peeved that Kate was into touching her_ the slightly abrasive Meet Cute, the “you’re safe here” scene- IT’S ALL SO ROMANTIC. AND GAY.
