Q:If you don't mind me asking what was so accidental about Sif and Loki?

It was accidental because my girlf and I just FELL INTO shipping it when noncanon pairings aren’t traditionally our thing. The accidental is of extra importance because we instantly shipped it SO DISGUSTINGLY HARD (like list of top eternal otps hard) that it was basically from “hmm what if…” to “sitting up at night weeping about their love and also writing fanfic novels” in 60 seconds.

but…

…why is random people caring WAY TOO MUCH about people shipping movieverse sif/loki still a thing

i mean why was it ever a thing

BUT WHY IS IT STILL A THING!??!?!?!

how or why does it hurt you? it’s a tiny niche ship in a niche part of a giant fucking fandom full of random ass ships?

i personally don’t give a fuck about thor comicsverse at all ever or any ships contained therein or any sif or loki ships in movieverse that aren’t sif/loki

but you don’t see me running around messaging random people my disapproval of their shipping choices

Q:How do you cope with the appalling lack of Loki/Sif? I'm new to fandom and I've already read and watched EVERYTHING! I feel like I'm in a constant state of withdrawal. Also Jaimie Alexander's face. and her HAIR! (she's sucked me into watching Kyle XY, and now I'm obsessed with a cancelled-ended-on-a-cruel-cliffhanger show and a ship that had so much potential-but-the-show-got-cancelled and now I have feelings!). Sorry for this crazy rant- I don't know who else to go to! Love, Anon. <3

Sometimes I stop reading fic for a while and save it up to gorge all at once.

HERE IS A PREVIEW FROM THE NEXT INSTALLMENT OF WINTER’S HEART JUST TO PROVE TO YOU ALL THAT IT EXISTS

“Poor Fandral,” Sif cooed, as she gave Hogun a hand up. “Would you like me to be more gentle?”

“Only if it please you, my lady,” he drawled. “I do rather suspect that being… pleased might improve your disposition.” A few chuckles of amusement rose at this, and one long, high whistle.

“Fandral,” Volstagg said, his voice thrumming with warning. Hogun cast his friend a disapproving glare.

Sif hoped that if she was blushing as hotly as she felt, they would all assume it solely out of anger.

“Is that an invitation, Fandral?” she asked viciously, bearing down on him as if he had challenged her to a fight; after a fashion, he had. “Is there something you think you could teach me in the bedchamber as you never have in the ring?”

She deliberately raked her gaze up and down his body dismissively.

“Or, like in the realm of war, are you hoping to learn from proximity?”

Fandral raised his hands placatingly as a loud bark of laughter sounded from somewhere to Sif’s left.

“It was naught but careless talk, friend. I apologize,” Fandral said and his furrowed brow spoke of sincerity. “That was out of line.”

Sif shrugged one shoulder, the storm breaking immediately, the inferno diminishing with his surrender. She had not spent her life training alongside proud young men and never learned to bluster.

There is one thing of which he is certain: she will leave him.

One day she will look at him with contempt instead of affection, touch him in anger instead of tenderness, and speak to him with hatred instead of care.

It will destroy him; he knows this.

So he plans, and he prepares, and he begins to collect little pieces of her, memories that he selfishly hoards to himself as he prepares for the inevitable.

He traces the constellation of freckles on her back with his fingertips and follows with his lips so that he will never forget the feel of her warm skin against his.

He buries his face in her hair and breathes in so that he will always remember the scent that is uniquely hers.

He memorizes the coy smile she has when she’s about to convince him to do something he swore he would not do, the lilt of her voice when she teases him, her deep even breathing when she sleeps tangled up with him in bed, and the little wheezing snore she has when she falls asleep as he reads in the library.

Even her frustrations and tears are treasures to be savored for the days when she will scorn his presence.

He counts and saves every touch, every kiss, every fond look and word of love, curating his collection so when he has nothing left he can walk in his own private gallery of her in his mind.

He drinks her in and savors her. He waits for the end.

It doesn’t come.

Q:Um, this is kind of presumptuous, but: What was running through Loki's mind in Winter's Heart when Sif took off her hood and was wearing his wreath? Unless you've already written that or plan to. I have so many thoughts, and I was just going to wait and read, but then that picture! With the skating! Addicted, that's what I am.

It’s not presumptuous at all! And it’s not something I’m going to return to in any detail so I don’t mind talking about it.

Loki’s primary reaction when Sif first takes off her hood and he sees the wreath was surprise! He was very neurotic about that particularly because he did a lot of second-guessing about giving it to her. When he did give it to her it was sort of a last ditch flaily kind of thing. He knew that their relationship was changing, but he wasn’t sure how much or how fast and he didn’t want to overstep, but he also didn’t want to just go off when it would be so long before they saw each other again and not have any kind of statement of interest or intention at all.

So, he froze up! Then, he conjured that up because it was what came to him. Then he felt really silly, but it was too late! And after he was home, he wasn’t sure if she’d worn it to his whole leave-taking business to be polite or what. (If he had been thinking slightly more rationally, he would know that Sif certainly wouldn’t do anything just to be polite to him lololol.) So when she shows up wearing it again, it’s pretty clear that there’s only one way she means for him to interpret it! Reciprocal interest/intention! Which, for all that he pretends at great confidence wrt his ~plans~ later, he didn’t expect so immediately and clearly, because, you know, he has issues. Thus: surprise and overwhelment.

Secondarily, he pretty much wanted to KISS HER FACE because, as I’ve mentioned previously I think, both he and Sif are very possessive, so for better or worse, seeing her wearing something he’d made for her gave him FEELS.

In his pants. (Which he still tends to find the slightest bit distressing at that point btw.)
