This begs the question. Why might a person who is totally out of the loop be interested in watching Leverage?

b) Okay but seriously, it’s a fun little show about a mismatched group of the world’s best thieves and grifters, who end up using their skills to play Robin Hood and take down corporations, scam artists, and other people who pick on the little guy. The show has a pretty static formula: the team meets a client, takes their case, runs a con, but the real focus/interest is in the interplay and dynamics between all the characters. It boasts slow, organic, but still very notable development across all spheres of relationships and character arcs and ultimately focuses on the team as a found family.

c) My two favorite characters are 1) Alec Hardison (seen above) a brilliant, multi-talented, and excitable young hacker with a dry wit and a soft heart. He is also a giant nerd and in the course of setting up the team’s IDs and junk constantly inserts all kinds of fannish references. He is… perfect. And I love him. 2) Parker (just Parker) is the best thief in the world. She’s also severely emotionally damaged due to a very very rough upbringing and is extremely bad at… human interaction. She enjoys stealing and the thrill of stealing and all the skills involved in stealing, and her arc is ultimately about learning to process feelings about other stuff! Not to have “normal” feelings, but to deal with what she does feel now that she has people she can depend on and how that changes her.

d) Parker and Hardison… are in love. And their romance arc, beginning literally in the pilot, is perfect.

e) Ignoring the annoying prominence of Timothy Hutton’s character (which all said mostly annoys me because I find him boring; the show is, above all else, an ensemble and everyone gets their time), Leverage generally tries to not be gross? Like there are ladies and they are friends! And it’s not exploitative wrt said ladies. And because of the specific focus on people abusing privilege, the villains are not scary brown people! It’s not perfect by any stretch (nothing is) but it tries?

but they’re the BEST characters tho

and that’s what really matters

but no really they’re still in every episode being rad! and then sometimes whole episodes are about them and everything’s EVEN BETTER.
