dear my anons (and other visitors)

I really, truly appreciate that you respect my opinions and outlook and politics, and I legitimately don’t mind answering questions about social justice and related concerns (as evidenced by the fact that I always do!). But the reason my friends (and I!) sometimes go, “…what???” at the barrage of such questions is because it can be very overwhelming for me to be treated like an oppression detector or a meta commentary generator.

As much as I generally enjoy engaging about such topics and believe it’s extremely important to do, it does take energy to do so and I have anything but an unlimited supply of that. And you may think, “Well, just ignore them then!” But first of all, I mostly don’t want to for aforementioned reasons of importance and, secondly, when I so much as try to leave things for later, my anxiety disorders commence telling me how I am a terrible, useless, awful, mean person regardless of how involving and tiring and time-consuming coming up with a reasoned and respectful answer for any given question might be.

When it all comes down it to: y’all, I do not have all of the answers. I don’t even have the majority of the answers.

I’m not saying DON’T SEND ME MESSAGES ABOUT SOCIAL JUSTICE because, please, continue to do so! I’m just saying that you don’t need to treat me like I’m the last word on anything, because I assure you, I am not.

If there’s been a bunch of discourse about how something is problematic and you think it probably is, you don’t have to ASK @GLAMAPHONIC unless you legitimately think there’s a high chance I will have something new to say about it. If you have a question about a term or an issue, but you don’t really know anything about it, try Googling it or even searching my ‘isms’ tag to see if it’s shown up there before; even if it hasn’t that’s just a good tag in general!

Trust your instincts! Use your discretion!

And please try to respect the fact that I am not some tireless mystical sage parceling out perfect wisdom from on high. I’m just a nerdy twentysomething stumbling through life trying to be a dope person.

Thanks for visiting my Tumblr!
